Marker Lights - Correctly fitted, correct operation and are clean. See Permaquip manual. Rail wheels - running profile - Check No flat exceeding 20mm long. - Check No step in flange profile more than 1.5mm. - Check Tread on outside of wheel not more than 2mm above running tread surface. - Otherwise do not use until repaired Towing pins and tow bar - Check Present and secure. No damage, chain and lynch pins attached and good condition Paintwork - Check & Clean No damage and yellow areas clean / visible. Brake Pad Wear - Visual Check only. Do not use if pads look below minimum limit (2.5mm). Brake Pad Wear - Replace if required. Brake pad minimum thickness 2.5mm. CoP0018 Brake Test - Perform a CoP0018 Pre-use test. Do not use until brake system is maintained if test fails. Dynamic brake test - 10mph, driver only, unladen. Maximum stopping distance 16m. Red Lights - Red lights must be present and operate correctly, replace batteries or unit if required. See manual. Operation of trailer failsafe brakes - Trailer brakes apply when the footbrake on the attached RRV is depressed. Operation of trailer failsafe brakes - Trailer brakes apply when the brake system on the attached RRV is switched off. Operation of trailer failsafe brakes - Trailer brakes apply when the marker lights are disconnected. Brake hoses, fittings and couplings (Air / Hydraulic) - No leaks, damage, kinks, perished or degrading hoses. Condition of wooden boards - No damage, delaminating, rotting or holes in wooden deck. Weekly Exam Checks * Ensure all four wheels are in contact with the rail head. - Test Track Brake pad wear - Check Visual Check only. Do not use if pads look below minimum limit (2.5mm). Brake pad wear - Replace if required. Brake pad minimum thickness 2.5mm. Labels, Check / Clean - Ensure all labels are secure and can be easily read. Clean and replace as required. 6 Monthly Exam Checks * Rail wheels - running profile Record - No flat exceeding 20mm long. No step in flange profile more than 1.5mm. Tread on outside of wheel not more than 1.5mm above running tread surface. The tread profile shall follow the limits defined for a P1 tread. These are: flange thickness to be 28mm (new) to 24mm (worn) and flange height to be 30mm (new) to 36.5mm (worn). Otherwise do not use until repaired and report incident to infrastructure controller Rail wheels - running profile Record - Diameter greater than 246mm Rail wheels back to back Record - 1360mm - 2mm, +3mm at top and bottom of wheel when loaded and unloaded Brake pad wear - Visual Check only. Do not use if pads look below minimum limit (2.5mm). Brake Pad Wear Check / Replace - Replace if required. Brake pad minimum thickness 2.5mm. CoP0018 Brake Test - Perform a CoP0018 brake test using Brake Test Tool 34712 and record results on TM023. If required adjust or replace components as necessary to ensure the minimum torque setting of 80Nm is achieved. Brake hoses, fittings and couplings (Air / Hydraulic) - Adjust or Replace or replace as necessary. Rail wheel bearings / axles Check or Replace - Check that the wheels rotate freely. Resistance to rotation or rocking of the wheel on the axle indicates either a worn axle or a cracked bearing. The wheel bearings are sealed for life and do not require lubrication. Replace damaged or worn bearings / axles as necessary. General inspection of all fasteners - Present and secure. No damage, chain and pins attached and good condition. General lubrication - Lubricate all pivot points and axles. Insert Security Check - Insert(s) fits securely between the two trailer halves, all components and safety chains are present and secure. Condition of wooden boards - Replace as required Yearly Exam Checks * Paint work - Re-condition paint work if necessary. Brake pad wear - Visual Check only. Do not use if pads look below minimum limit (2.5mm). Brake pad wear - Replace if required. Brake pad minimum thickness 2.5mm. CoP0014 Brake Test - Perform a CoP0014 Brake pull test using a calibrated Load cell. Record the results on TM032. Dynamic brake test - 10mph, driver only, unladen. Maximum stopping distance 16m. Dynamic brake test - 5mph, driver only, laden. Maximum stopping distance, 6m. Dynamic brake test - 20mph, driver only, laden. Maximum stopping distance 60m. Rail wheel life guard/rail head sweep (Record) - Rubber height <30mm, adjust if necessary. Full structural inspection - Check condition and inspect for signs of deformation, dents, cracked welds and missing or incorrect parts fitted. See Manual "Structural Tests". Conductivity Test - Using a calibrated resistance meter check the resistance between the trailer frame and one wheel is less than 0.15Ω. Repeat for the other 3 wheels. Record resistance meter serial number. Defects To Report? * YESNO List All Defects Signature * signature keyboard Clear If you are human, leave this field blank. Submit
