Toolbox Talk: Whistleblowing – Speaking Up Matters

    TOOLBOX TALK
    WHISTLEBLOWING POLICY

    WHAT IS WHISTLEBLOWING?

Whistleblowing is the act of reporting serious concerns about wrongdoing, risks, or malpractice within the company. It gives employees a safe way to speak up without fear of reprisal. You are often the first to notice when something isn’t right. Speaking up early can stop potential harm before it gets worse.

    WHY IT MATTERS

At Electrification Construction Services Ltd, we are committed to:

  • Openness
  • Honesty
  • Accountability
  • We rely on each other to uphold these values. If something threatens our safety, ethics, or legal compliance, it must be addressed.

    EXAMPLES OF WHAT TO REPORT

    You should raise concerns about:

  • Criminal offences or breaches of law
  • Health and safety risks (to yourself, colleagues, or the public)
  • Environmental damage
  • Fraud, corruption, or misuse of company funds
  • Bullying, harassment, or abuse
  • Unethical or unprofessional conduct
  • Note: If your concern is about your personal employment (e.g., pay or working hours), this should be raised through the Grievance Procedure, not whistleblowing.

    HOW TO REPORT A CONCERN

  • 1. First Step: Speak with your line manager or supervisor.
  • 2. If not appropriate: Go to their superior or use the formal whistleblowing procedure.
  • 3. Confidentiality: Your concern will be treated in confidence. Your identity will not be revealed unless necessary – and with your knowledge.
  • 4. Anonymity: While anonymous reports are allowed, putting your name to the concern helps investigations and credibility.
  • YOUR PROTECTIONS

If you report in good faith, you are protected:

  • From victimisation
  • From reprisals or disciplinary action
  • As long as you are not acting maliciously or for personal gain
  • KEY POINTS TO REMEMBER

  • Speak up if something seems wrong
  • Your voice helps keep everyone safe and the company honest
  • You’re protected when acting in good faith
  • Don’t ignore unsafe, illegal, or unethical behaviour
  • FINAL MESSAGE

We all have a duty to protect our workplace, our colleagues, and the company. If something doesn’t feel right – say something. Whistleblowing isn’t disloyalty – it’s integrity.
