SAFETY BRIEFING – ELECTRIC SHOCK
Member of staff made contact with residual current on running rail.
An Operative (Vital subcontractor) recieved a ‘minor shock’ when they made contact with both the running rail and the conductor rail as they were installing insulators and clips.
The IP continued to work; however, after approx. 5-10mins the IP reported they felt pains in their left arm. The IP was taken to hospital as a precaution. The Hospital confirmed no injury and the IP was prescribed pain killers, and assessed as fit to work their following shift.
IMMEDIATE ACTIONS TAKEN & LESSONS LEARNED
- IP stood down from duties
- IP assessed by First aider and advised them to go to A&E as a precaution.
- Periodic multi-metre test after point of fuse removal in the worksite to confirm no residual voltage.
