SAFETY ALERT UK/SA/2025/002 - LGMG SCISSOR LIFT PLATFORM FAILURE

SAFETY ALERT UK/SA/2025/002 – LGMG SCISSOR LIFT PLATFORM FAILURE

A deck recently detached from the extended scissor arms of a large scissor lift on a UK contractor’s site in Northampton, seriously injuring two people.

The Health and Safety Executive are investigating the incident, including a review of the activity involved in the event.

The machine involved was a new 65ft LGMG SR2024E electric rough terrain scissor lift.

We are not currently hiring this model through our strategic supply chain, but it may be being hired or used by subcontractors.

As a precautionary measure, LGMG have advised that they are quarantining the SR2024E model globally, and that contractors should suspend use of the model until the root cause has been confirmed.

    ACTION REQUIRED:

    Please ensure that:

  • All sites using scissor lifts check for the LGMG SR2024E model and if found immediately quarantine it until further notice.
  • Note that this incident did not take place on a Balfour Beatty project.
